Launched in 2013, the team includes Crude Accountability (USA), the Center for the Development of Democracy and Human Rights (Russia), Freedom Files (Russia), the Norwegian Helsinki Committee, Human Rights Center Memorial, Human Rights Watch as well as independent experts and civil society activists in Turkmenistan.
The campaign works with intergovernmental organizations including the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, the Council of Europe, and the European Union, as well as with governments and parliaments of various countries.
We work with international civil society to influence public opinion to categorically reject disappearance in prisons, which is a characteristic feature of regimes such as Turkmenistan and other repressive states.
Crude Accountability, the Center for the Development of Democracy and Human Rights, Freedom Files, and the Norwegian Helsinki Committee also founded the Turkmenistan Civic Solidarity Group in 2012 as part of the international NGO coalition, the Civic Solidarity Platform.[3] It includes NGOs from several countries of Europe and North America as well as civic activists in Turkmenistan.
The group works to advance fundamental human rights, rule of law, government accountability, environmental sustainability, and democratic transition in Turkmenistan, using research, advocacy, public education, solidarity actions, and cooperation with broader civil society and intergovernmental organisations.
Prove They Are Alive! includes members of Turkmenistan Civic Solidarity Group and the other organizations listed above working on Turkmenistan.
